Tawakkol Karman Foundation launched the Musanada program in Istanbul on August 16, 2021, to help Yemeni students overcome academic challenges in Turkish schools and strengthen their performance in key subjects.
Implemented in cooperation with Aldunya Education Academy, the first phase of the four-month program targeted 70 students in grades four through seven.
The program provided supplementary lessons in science, mathematics and Turkish, following the curriculum used in Turkish schools. It also sought to support high-performing students and help participants improve their overall academic achievement.
Many Yemeni and other Arab families in Türkiye face difficulties supporting their children’s education, particularly when students are still developing their Turkish reading and writing skills or adjusting to an unfamiliar curriculum.
These challenges often lead families to rely on private schools, tutoring centers or one-to-one lessons, options that can be costly. Students may also struggle to integrate into their new communities and build relationships with their Turkish classmates.
Through Musanada, Tawakkol Karman Foundation aimed to provide accessible academic support while helping Yemeni students adapt more confidently to school life in Türkiye.
