Tawakkol Karman Foundation supports "The Silent Killer" initiative in displacement camps in Marib
Tawakkol Karman Foundation has sponsored the "Silent Killer" initiative under "Musanada" program for supporting youth initiatives in 2024. The program aims to enhance the role of Yemeni youth in their community's development by empowering them economically and stimulating their initiative and creativity.
The "Silent Killer" initiative was selected after an extensive screening process by Tawakkol Karman Foundation from over 600 proposals submitted for "Musanada" program, which provides financial and administrative support to qualifying initiatives for real-world implementation and active community participation.
The initiative targeted displaced children in the displacement camps of Marib governorate (northeast Yemen) and aimed to raise awareness about the dangers of landmines and how children and the local community can avoid them. It also sought to enhance the safety of children and residents through awareness and educational campaigns.
Additionally, the initiative aimed to reduce landmine-related accidents by involving relevant authorities in mine clearance efforts and enabling children to understand how to react when encountering unfamiliar or suspicious objects.
It is worth noting that "Musanada" program, which has supported many initiatives in previous years, targets Yemeni youth in the governorates of Taiz, Marib, Al-Mahra, Shabwa, Lahj, and the cities of Mukalla and Sayun in Hadhramaut. Its focus areas include education, economic empowerment, social cohesion, and mine clearance in Yemen.
Since the launch of "Musanada" program in 2022, Tawakkol Karman Foundation has funded six youth initiatives in the governorates of Taiz, Marib, Aden, and Hadhramaut. These initiatives have covered several areas, including education, art, the environment, and empowerment of people with disabilities.
