As the Covid-19 pandemic spread across the world, Tabibi e-clinic expanded its services to provide medical guidance, preventive information and remote consultations to patients unable to reach health facilities.
The application’s administrators converted its emergency section into a dedicated Covid-19 department under the supervision of Dr. Marwan Al-Ghafori, a Yemeni cardiologist based in Germany.
Between January 7 and June 3, 2020, Tabibi provided approximately 854 consultations related to the virus. The platform also shared preventive guidance and health recommendations drawn from World Health Organization materials and advice from participating physicians.
The application translated and published 37 studies on Covid-19, making them available as a reference for patients and users. It also published more than 100 medical articles and awareness messages addressing symptoms, prevention and other health concerns linked to the pandemic.
In cooperation with Yemen Shabab Channel, Tabibi also produced three television episodes each week featuring doctors from a range of specialties. The programs discussed methods of preventing infection and examined the effects of Covid-19 across different areas of medicine.
Tabibi allows specialist physicians to respond remotely to medical questions, provide preliminary guidance and help patients understand when further treatment may be required. The service is particularly important for people living far from hospitals and other medical facilities.
Tabibi is among the health initiatives supported by Tawakkol Karman Foundation to expand access to medical advice, strengthen public health awareness and provide essential services amid the difficult conditions facing Yemen.
