TKF launches ‘Musanda’ Program to assist Yemeni students in Turkey
Young children who migrate with their parents to countries that differ in language and culture face communicative and linguistic difficulties, especially in primary schools. Arab children, who have moved to settle in Turkey with their families, face academic difficulties in school. They have a hard time reading and writing in the Turkish language. The language barrier hinders their understanding of the subject syllabus and often they seek the assistance of either a private teacher or a specialized institute to help them understand and write their schoolwork, and these solutions are of a high cost.
To overcome the language barrier that makes it difficult for students to integrate with their Turkish peers, TKF in Istanbul, Turkey, launched the ‘Musanada’ program in cooperation with the ‘Al-Dunya Educational Academy’ to help Yemeni students study in Turkish schools and overcome academic difficulties; especially the language and the Turkish curriculum, and enhance their communicative and linguistic skills.
The program lasts four months in the first phase and targets 70 female and male students studying in Turkey from the 4th to the 7th grade. The program will provide reinforcement lessons for students in subjects of science, mathematics, and the Turkish language, according to the approved curriculum in Turkish schools to improve their educational performance.
