Key messages from “Basic Messages for Peace”, women-led peace workshop
The situation of Yemeni women before the February 11th Peaceful Revolution is different compared to after the revolution.
Yemeni women overwhelmed the world with their strong presence and participation in The Yemeni Peaceful Revolution and their representation in the Comprehensive National Dialogue Conference, where they won 30% of the 565 seats due to the awareness women have acquired of their rights, mental and intellectual capabilities, and the importance of their genuine participation in public and political life.
These were signs of encouragement for women to become an effective and productive element in society, paving the way for a modern and modern civil state, the war that has been raging in Yemen for five years has plunged women into the nets of poverty, discrimination, and violence, and their role has diminished considering the struggle of traditional political forces.
The Social and religious agreement and forces agree on removing women from decision-making positions.
To strengthen the presence of Yemeni women on the Yemeni political scene, the Women of the Nobel Initiative, in cooperation with Tawakkol Karman Foundation (TKF), launched a workshop entitled, Basic Messages for Peace Led by Women in Yemen, which targeted the Women Network for Yemen.
The course started on the 1st - 4th of December and aimed to enhance the capabilities of Yemeni female media professionals to spread concepts and values of peace and to involve women in building peace.
It is noteworthy that the establishment of this training came because of the recommendations of a previous training course organized by the “Nobel Women” initiative, and TKF targeted the network which works for the agenda of women, peace, and security in Yemen. Women4Yemen.
