Before receiving a scholarship from Tawakkol Karman Foundation, my educational journey was filled with challenges. Financial hardship was one of the biggest obstacles standing between me and a university education. I also had to navigate life away from home, adapt to a new environment, and cope with the instability in Yemen, where conditions were often far from ideal for learning. Even so, I remained convinced that education was the most important path toward building my future and achieving my goals, and I kept working hard until this opportunity came along.
The scholarship enabled me to study Computer Science at the Asian University for Women in Bangladesh and continue my education without financial pressure standing in the way. Its impact, however, went far beyond academics. Through my studies, university projects, and extracurricular activities, I became more confident, independent, and responsible. I also formed friendships and learned from people with different cultures, backgrounds, and experiences.
During my years at university, I strengthened my communication skills and learned how to work in intellectually and culturally diverse environments. I also deepened my knowledge of artificial intelligence and machine learning. I am currently completing a graduation research project involving an application in these fields, and I hope to publish a research paper through an academic platform in Bangladesh.
As I graduate in 2026, I feel more confident in my abilities and better prepared to enter the workforce. I hope to build a career in artificial intelligence and data science, continue my postgraduate studies, and eventually contribute to developing technology that serves communities and helps solve real-world problems. One day, I also hope to return to Yemen and use what I have learned to give back to my community.
For me, the Tawakkol Karman Foundation scholarship was a genuine turning point. It gave me the chance to achieve my dream of attending university, opened new doors for academic and professional growth, and gave me the confidence to believe that perseverance can lead to success, no matter how difficult the circumstances.
I am sincerely grateful to Tawakkol Karman Foundation for supporting students and for believing in the power of education to build a better future. This opportunity has had a profound impact on my life, and I hope the Foundation continues to support more determined students as they pursue their dreams and work to serve their communities.
