Through its "Haith Al-Insan" program in its seventh season, Tawakkol Karman Foundation has launched an agricultural nursery project for a displaced young woman in Wadi Al-Dhabab, Saber Al-Mawadim district, Taiz governorate.
Tayba once lived in Jabal Habashi, relying on her land to sustain herself. However, the war forced her to leave her home, moving from one shelter to another in search of safety. Displacement alone was not her only hardship—in 2017, she lost her leg in a landmine explosion. Yet, instead of breaking her spirit, the tragedy fueled her determination to rebuild her future with her own hands.
Despite the difficulties, Tayba never abandoned her love for farming. She worked in other people’s fields, but it always felt like she was putting in effort without real rewards. Her dream was simple yet profound: to own a piece of land where she could plant and harvest her own crops.
A dream turns into reality
"Haith Al-Insan" program responded to Tayba’s call, providing her with an 85-meter-long and 13-meter-wide plot of land near a water source, equipped with an economical irrigation system. She also received specialized training in farming and crop care. The land was planted with climate-adapted seedlings, ensuring a continuous harvest throughout the year.
With her own hands, Tayba planted the first seedling in her new land, marking the beginning of a new chapter in her life. Filled with excitement, she said:
"I never imagined I would one day farm on my own land, rather than working for others. Insha’Allah, you will see a bountiful harvest. Thank you to the 'Haith Al-Insan' program, and thank you to Tawakkol Karman Foundation."
Tayba’s story is more than just a personal success—it is a message of hope to every girl with a dream, proving that resilience can turn pain into achievement and that determination can overcome even the harshest circumstances.
