With these proud words, Zainab Al-Jamal reflects on her journey with Leaders for Future scholarship from Tawakkol Karman Foundation.

Zainab says:

I am a working mother of two, without any family support, yet despite these challenges, I was able to study for eight months through the English scholarship provided by Tawakkol Karman Foundation, and I’m still continuing my studies.

This course provided a solution to the tough equation of how to study English while working from morning to evening and taking care of two children who need my attention. Thanks to the online learning system, I was able to overcome this challenge and study English with a much higher quality of education than other available opportunities.

I work at an international organization in Turkey, where English and Turkish are the primary languages used. Although I graduated with a degree in Turkish Language and Literature, I always felt I was flying with only one wing as long as I didn’t speak English. But after joining the program, I had the opportunity to learn English, and as a result, my professional skills have improved significantly.

The program has boosted my confidence and given me the energy to learn more and explore new fields. Everything about the program was fantastic, especially the career-oriented courses, which completely changed my view of the job market—it used to seem like a daunting unknown.

I now feel that I’ve achieved a lot and still have the ability to learn more. I’ve realized that I do have time to continue learning, even though I once thought I didn’t. I’m truly grateful to the team at Tawakkol Karman Foundation for providing me with this valuable opportunity.
