Mastering English with confidence: Yasmin Yousuf’s transformation through Leaders for Future program
I remember the moments when I first saw the scholarship advertisement. At that time, I felt lost because of my limited level of English and my inability to commit to a clear path to improve it. I clicked on the advertisement for the English scholarship provided by Tawakkol Karman Foundation, and I thought it was one of those online or YouTube-based scholarships, like most others.
I enrolled in the scholarship and was surprised by the organization, system, and quality that governed the study process. Then, the instructors informed me that I needed to commit to attending the daily sessions. I didn't think I would be able to adhere to this, but I found myself aligning with it step by step. As a result, I noticed a remarkable improvement in my English skills. There isn’t much left before I can take the IELTS exam, which I aim to use for applying to a doctoral program at an international university. Additionally, the supplementary training sessions focused on developing key aspects of life in work and study, and I benefited greatly from them.
My feelings are mixed between gratitude and sadness. I am grateful for the significant progress I’ve made in English, progress I would not have achieved without this scholarship. And I am sad because I will miss the teaching staff and my classmates from different nationalities, who have all become like family to me. All my gratitude goes to Tawakkol Karman Foundation for this unique opportunity.
