Tawakkol Karman Foundation

Tawakkol Karman Foundation wrapped up its Jusoor 2024 program, designed to support projects initiated by Yemeni student associations, clubs, and networks in Türkiye. The program aims to foster cultural and artistic connections among Arab youth and encourage their active role in development.

Through its support for youth initiatives and projects, Tawakkol Karman Foundation strives to empower young people, help them acquire skills, and develop their leadership potential so they can become effective leaders in their communities.

This year’s Jusoor 2024 program accepted six projects: Nahdat Shabab Forum, Miras Leadership Training, Edraak Film Festival 3, Public Opinion Survey Administration, Nokhba Youth Project, and Nawabigh Specialized Units. The program reached hundreds of students from Yemen and other Arab countries studying at Turkish universities and received widespread positive feedback from student communities in Türkiye.

The highlight of Jusoor 2024 was the third season of Edraak Short Film Festival, the first of its kind for the Arab diaspora in Türkiye. It provided a valuable opportunity for participants to develop their filmmaking skills in a hands-on, professional setting, aiming to cultivate a new generation contributing to the Arab cinematic landscape.

In its third season, 59 short films advanced to the festival’s final stages, with three films winning top awards. All entries focused on themes of development and peace, two central pillars of Tawakkol Karman Foundation’s mission.

As an endowment organization, Tawakkol Karman Foundation seeks to set a global example in civic engagement and peacebuilding, focusing on community development, education, health, economic empowerment, and supporting women in leadership roles with sensitivity to cultural values. Democracy, good governance, and the promotion of human rights are foundational to the foundation’s efforts to create tangible change in communities and shape new ways of thinking.
