Tawakkol Karman Foundation has enabled a displaced family from Al-Jawf to own their own project after years of working for others. "Umm Khaled" and her family were displaced five times due to the war, and despite holding a university degree, she had to work as a shepherd. Her dream was always to own her own project.
The family moved between various areas, and every time they settled, they found a new reason to leave due to the ongoing conflict. Eventually, they settled in a farm in the Al-Mathna area of Marib, where Umm Khaled continued her work as a shepherd.
Tawakkol Karman Foundation supported Umm Khaled’s family by providing them with 29 head of cattle and building a stable for them, enabling the family to cope with the challenges of displacement and the difficulties of daily life.
Umm Khaled expressed her gratitude to Tawakkol Karman Foundation for opening new horizons for her and her family to overcome life's challenges. She thanked the foundation for providing a project that will serve as a sustainable income source for her family.
This initiative is part of Tawakkol Karman Foundation’s annual "Haith Al-Insan" program, which includes 30 developmental humanitarian projects in key sectors—education, health, and economic empowerment. The program aims to provide support to the most vulnerable populations affected by the war across various Yemeni governorates.
