Tawakkol Karman Foundation has facilitated the return of belongings to dozens of residents in a displacement camp located in Hadramout Governorate, eastern Yemen, which they had been compelled to sell years ago. Fifty families in the Buweesh camp, situated in Al Mukalla city, the administrative center of Hadramout Governorate, had previously sold their possessions to meet their livelihood needs. However, subsequent to losing everything, they continued to await aid and relief. Predominantly, camp residents engage in collecting and selling empty cans to sustain their families, enduring challenging living conditions.
Tawakkol Karman Foundation has initiated the establishment of a livestock barn and procured 50 heads of livestock, with camp residents forming a committee to oversee and advance the project. Furthermore, the foundation inaugurated a sewing workshop within the Buweesh camp, fully equipped with necessary machinery and tools to support and empower women residing in the camp. Additionally, a small playground has been set up for the children of the camp.
This initiative falls within the framework of the annual "Haith Al-Insan" program, spearheaded by Tawakkol Karman Foundation. The program encompasses 30 humanitarian and developmental projects, focusing on crucial areas such as education, healthcare, and economic empowerment. Its overarching aim is to provide aid and assistance to populations most adversely affected by the ongoing war across various Yemeni governorates.
