Tawakkol Karman Foundation has transformed the reality of one of the displacement camps in Hadramaut governorate (eastern Yemen), hosting dozens of families who fled from several provinces due to the war.
Five years ago, 55 families settled in the Buwaishe area, in Al-Mukalla, the center of Hadramout governorate, coming from various governorates to escape the war. The displaced families in the camp struggle to overcome numerous challenges; even accessing water is difficult. Women collect firewood to cook meals, which are limited to only two meals a day. For children in the camp, having fruits is a dream.
Tawakkol Karman Foundation funded the establishment of a sewing workshop for displaced women in the camp, accessible to everyone for learning and working, in addition to creating a playground for children.
Nadeen Hussein, one of the displaced women in the Buwaishe camp, expressed her immense happiness with the establishment of the workshop, saying: "We thank Tawakkol Karman Foundation for realizing our dream, which we have longed for and no one else has fulfilled."
This comes within the framework of the annual Haith Al-Insan program implemented by Tawakkol Karman Foundation, which includes 30 humanitarian development projects in key areas of development: education, health, and economic empowerment, aimed at providing support and assistance to the most affected populations of the war in various Yemeni governorates.
