Haith Al-Insan sows hope in home of woman with disability in Taiz
In its sixth season, Haith Al-Insan program, funded by Tawakkol Karman Foundation, initiated a special project for a woman with disability in the village of Al Shuqab, located in Sabr Al-Mawadem district of Taiz Governorate in southwestern Yemen.
Afaf Mohammed, a woman with an artificial foot due to the amputation of her left foot, suffered injuries when she stepped on a landmine left by Houthi militia remnants while fetching water.
After her brother's departure, Afaf was left with the responsibility of caring for five daughters and two sons. She embarked on a journey to find ways to live with dignity and fulfill her brother's wishes to educate her children.
Haith Al-Insan funded the establishment of a project to sell clothes and shoes to assist Afaf in improving her income.
Afaf now operates her small shop and eagerly awaits the day when she sees her brother's children holding their educational certificates, as their father wished.
Haith Al-Insan is an annual program implemented by Tawakkol Karman Foundation, comprising 30 humanitarian and developmental projects in key areas of development: education, health, and economic empowerment.
The program aims to provide support and assistance to the most affected populations of the war in various Yemeni governorates. The projects are documented in television episodes aired annually during the month of Ramadan on Belqees TV channel.
