TKF aids disabled fisherman in Hadramout with boat and gear
Tawakkol Karman Foundation supported a fisherman who suffers from a movement disability in one of his feet, and provided him with a boat, fishing equipment, and safety tools, in Al-Shihr, Hadramout governorate.
Salem Awad was famous for his close relationship with the sea, although he grew up unable to walk normally, and he used a crutch to walk.
Salem says that he spent most of his life at sea and that he is happy to work as a fisherman and enjoys doing so, as he is known to everyone in the region for his great abilities in sailing and fishing.
One day, Salem was involved in an accident at sea, which resulted in a broken leg, but he did not give up and continued his work to provide for the needs of his five daughters.
Salem's income declined, and entering the sea became a kind of unprofitable adventure, because his boat was old and no longer fit for work, and the engine was outdated and broke down, as he said it has been under maintenance for five months.
Tawakkol Karman Foundation supported Salem and provided him with a new boat with a modern engine, in addition to fishing equipment and safety tools, so that Salem can return to sailing and fishing as before.
This project is part of Tawakkol Karman Foundation projects, through Haith Al-Insan program, Season 3, which is presented by Belqees channel during Ramadan.
