Tawakkol Karman Foundation implemented a pastry and sweets bakery project for a family that was displaced from Tihama to a camp in Buish area in Mukalla city in Hadramout.

Jamila Saeed says that their displacement from Tihama took about three days, in light of the high cost of transportation, until they settled in one of the camps in the Buish area.

Jamila recounts the memories of the first day, three years ago, of their displacement, that it was difficult, as there was no water or electricity, and they were all huddled together in one room.

Jamila helps her husband by making pastries and cakes and distributing them to shops, but her profit is not enough to provide for her family's needs.

Amin Kadaf, Jamila’s husband, suffers from a chronic tumor that made him unable to work and support his four children, two of whom suffer from diseases. He said that the cost of their treatment per month is approximately fifty thousand Yemeni riyals, in addition to their need to visit the doctor every three months, and this is expensive for him and his wife, which doubles their responsibility toward them, so he is forced to double his work in carrying heavy cement packages and other goods for merchants.

Tawakkol Karman Foundation implemented a pastry and sweets bakery project that contains an oven, machines for mixing and forming pastries, a refrigerator, and all the tools that Jamila needs to make and sell pastries and sweets.

This project is part of Tawakkol Karman Foundation projects through Haith Al-Insan program, Season 3, which is presented by Belqees channel during Ramadan.
