Tawakkol Karman Foundation Opens Small Shop for Displaced Family (Ibb,Yemen)
Um Ahmed moved to the Ibb governorate after being displaced from Taiz due to Houthi attacks. Her husband passed away 12 years earlier, leaving her to fend for herself and children. Tawakkol Karman Foundation supported the family with a small grocery project in the city of Ibb. It covered renting the store, furnishing it with shelves and merchandise, a solar energy system, a refrigerator, and other requirements.
After receiving her project, Um Ahmed shares that “Now we have started work, and God willing, we will succeed and continue further. I am pleased to thank Tawakkol Karman Foundation, Belqees Channel, and the team of Haith Al-Insan program, which is broadcasted by Balqees Channel during the month of Ramadan.”
Um Ahmed says her conditions were good, but the war and displacement exhausted the family, and a new story of suffering began.
We wish to have a small enterprise to live on. People cannot keep spending on us. This was the dream of the displaced family.
