Tawakkol Karman Foundation Equips Health Center with Medical Supplies (Al-Azariq, Yemen)
Tawakkol Karman Foundation has equipped a health center in Al-Azariq District in Addalie Governorate, where the cholera epidemic has been raging for years.
A resident of Al-Azariq says that the people of the region suffer from difficulty in accessing health centers for medical care services that the city lacks.
Residents cooperated to establish a voluntary health camp in June 2017 in a school, and the camp, which lacked the most basic medical supplies, still provided emergency services.
A resident of Al-Azariq city says that the war has doubled their suffering, especially for the poor category, describing their condition as their children dying, while the parents are unable to do anything to save them.
He points out that it takes two hours to reach that health unit, and rescue a patient.
A doctor in the health unit says that they lack basic medical supplies, and it takes a five-hour drive to reach the health center, pointing out that one day the patient arrived dead.
A doctor in the medical camp adds that they used to receive three to four cases at the beginning of the cholera pandemic, and currently they receive 12-14 cases, referring the reason for the cholera outbreak in Al-Azariq to its location on the banks of Wadi Tuban.
The pressure on the health unit in the camp has resulted in its inability to provide services.
Tawakkol Karman Foundation provided medical equipment for the health center. The support included equipping the health unit with equipment, machines, furniture, and devices that help in immunization, nutrition, medical consultations, and assistance in cases of chronic diseases such as pressure, diabetes, and other primary care services.
This project is part of Tawakkol Karman Foundation program “Haith Al-Insan”, which was broadcast by Belqees channel.
