Tawakkol Karman Foundation Provides Playground, Classroom and Utilities Displaced Yemenis in the Al-Sha’b Camp (Aden, Yemen)
Tawakkol Karman Foundation has provided children and IDPs in Al-Sha’b camp in Aden, with a playground, classroom, and water tanks.
Al-Sha’b camp accommodates 106 families, and 400 children, while it lacks basic services.
IDPs children have no playground, and according to a lady in the camp, her children lack any extra curriculum activities and spend their day, doing nothing, furthermore, the children of the camp do not attend to school as a result of the displacement and the distance from the schools.
Tawakkol Karman Foundation established a classroom in the camp, targeting camp children, to continue their schooling. The support also included fencing off a playground, and providing many toys that do not require electricity and do not pose any risks to the the children.
The Foundation provided three large water tanks to alleviate the suffering of the displaced in the camp when fetching water.
The IDPs expressed their happiness after the intervention and support provided by Tawakkol Karman Foundation for establishing a recreational and educational space for children and basic services for the displaced.
