Tawakkol Karman Foundation has funded the establishment of a water project that will benefit hundreds of residents in Al-Safaa village in Jabal Habashi district in Taiz governorate.
The residents of Al-Safaa village live in constant suffering in fetching water because of the rugged road and lack of water network from a water spring that is 2 kilometers far from the village.
Ahmed Muhammad, a villager, says that their suffering for fetching water doubles, and in days of water scarcity, children are forced to go in the middle of the night, to fetch water.
Sometimes children have to fetch water at night so that they can catch up with the school hours.
Child Khaled Qassem says that they go to fetch water three to five times a day, indicating that it is very tiring and difficult for them.
Tawakkol Karman Foundation built a water tank near the water source, provided another plastic tank in the center of the village, extended a water supply network between the two tanks, and provided the village with a solar energy system to facilitate pumping water to the tanks.
The residents of the village, who benefited from the water project, expressed their appreciation to Tawakkol Karman Foundation for establishing this project. Ahmed Ghaleb said that he and the villagers feel as if they were reborn after the water reached their homes.
This project is part of Tawakkol Karman Foundation projects, through Haith Al-Insan program, season 3, which is presented by Belqees channel in Ramadan.
