Tawakkol Karman Foundation implemented a project to restore, expand and rehabilitate the health center in Labakhah, Al-Mahfad district in Abyan.
Mahdi Ali says that the people of Labakhah built a health unit themselves, but it was a little beneficial, because of the limited services it provides, as it only provides first aid.
The doctors left the health unit, except for Salem Ahmed, the assistant doctor, who stayed to do what he could to provide health services.
Salem Ahmed says that the health unit has provided primary services for malnourished children, and pregnant women, but the medicines are not enough.
Residents also suffer from the lack of nearby health centers, as they travel long distances of up to twenty kilometers to reach the nearest hospital in the Al-Mahfad district.
Doctor Salem Ahmed says that the health center in Labakhah was supposed to provide services to nearly ten thousand people who found themselves without a health unit.
Tawakkol Karman Foundation implemented a project to restore and rehabilitate the health unit in Labakhah and provide medical devices, the project also included expanding the health unit and building a room for maternity services to alleviate the suffering of women in the region, in addition to building a wall that preserves the privacy of the health facility, which is now able to provide needed services to citizens.
This project is part of Tawakkol Karman Foundation projects, through Haith Al-Insan program, season 3, which is presented by Belqees channel in Ramadan.
