Tawakkol Karman Foundation has opened a tailoring shop for a family in Mukalla city, in Hadramout governorate. The head of the household, Abu Muhammad, has 10 children and they live in a simple house in a slum area on the outskirts of Mukalla. Since they do not attend school, they turned to daily wage jobs. Abu Muhammad broke his pelvis, and lost the ability to move, adding more difficulties to the suffering of this family.
However, Abu Muhammad family did not give in to the difficult circumstances; the daughters searched jobs to contribute to shouldering the responsibility and caring for the family after their father’s incident. Om Muhammad says that she works as a tailor, in exchange for a wage that helps her buy some of their daily needs.
Tawakkol Karman Foundation, through Haith Al-Insan program, funded Abu Muhammad family project that would help them provide their basic and necessary needs. The project includes renting a small shop and purchasing (4) modern sewing machines, in addition to providing the necessary needs.
