Since 2003, engineer Ahmed Darwish has been working in a small shop manufacturing rubber spare parts and small metal sheets for electrical appliances and cars.
Darwish did not monopolize this craft; instead, he taught young people in Seiyun, as well as visitors to his workshop coming from outside Hadramout, how to manufacture spare parts. However, he has access to limited equipment which reduces the level of work and training he can provide. The Foundation has funded the expansion of the Darwish shop, rebuilt and rearranged the workshop, and provided electrical and hydraulic tools that help the team produce more spare parts in less time.
The project of expanding this workshop for the benefit of Engineer Ahmed Darwish comes as part of the series of works of the Tawakkol Karman Foundation Development Program "Haith Al-Insan" for the fourth season, which was presented by Belqees TV during the month of Ramadan of 2022.
Believing in the social integration principle, engineer Darwish did not monopolize this craft, rather he taught young people in Seiyun, as well as visitors to his workshop coming from outside Hadramout, how to manufacture spare parts, indicating that the biggest difficulties he faces are the lack of equipment that shortens time and effort, to him and youth whom he trained to work to produce the required spare parts manually.
Tawakkol Karman Foundation was ready to encourage the innovation that Darwish started, as he and his team could only produce a limited quantity of spare parts which consume a lot of time and effort.
