Tawakkol Karman Foundation

Tawakkol Karman Foundation has implemented a comprehensive restoration, rehabilitation, and furnishing of a health center that provides services to thousands of patients in Tarem district of Wadi Hadramout. The center is located in Thabee and provides services for the surrounding villages, and it is seven kilometers away from the center of Tarem district.

The recent floods and natural disasters caused cracks in the building, and the continuous pressure on the center’s services resulted in its inability to respond to patient needs. Ali Bakhreisa, director of the Thabee Health Center shares they are understaffed and struggle to provide health services and primary care.

 Tawakkol Karman Foundation funded a comprehensive restoration of the building, electricity, paint, and a tent in the center’s yard, in addition to expanding the center’s capabilities with diagnosis equipment, laboratories, beds, chairs, and other needs of the center.

The recent floods and natural disasters caused cracks in the building, and the continuous pressure on the center’s services resulted in its inability to respond to patient needs.

Ali Bakhreisa, director of the Thabee Health Center, says: "We are understaffed, with irregular salaries, and we struggle to provide health services and primary care, and we lack laboratory equipment and inpatient beds."

Sumaya Jaber, the nurse at the center says that sometimes she has to use a single bed for more than one child, especially during pandemics, and the number of children in a bed may reach three.
