TKF launches 3rd edition of Democracy and Peacebuilding diploma with over 1000 attendees
On August 8, 2023, Tawakkol Karman Foundation launched the first lecture of the Democracy and Peacebuilding Diploma, in conjunction with the Intensive English Language Diploma, as part of 'Leaders for Future' program, with the presence of over 1000 students.
The diploma targets both partial scholarship and the fifth batch of 'Leaders for Future' program funded by the foundation.
The first lecture, titled 'Introduction to Human Rights,' was delivered by the trainer, Almoatassim Al Kilani, an expert in human rights and international criminal law. It covered several topics, including international human rights law (background, definition, sources, origins, development), stages of codifying international human rights agreements, principles of international human rights law, key human rights conventions, the relationship between international humanitarian law and international human rights law, international means of protecting human rights, the Human Rights Council, and its role in defending human rights.
It is worth noting that the Democracy and Peacebuilding Diploma, delivered through 'Zoom' application, includes three main modules: Introduction to Human Rights, Negotiation Skills and Community Peacebuilding, Principles of Democracy. The diploma is taught by specialized trainers of various nationalities."
