Mrs. Karman gives lecture on freedom at Padua
Today, the Nobel Peace Prize-winning human rights activist, Tawakkol Karman, took part in “The Freedom Lecture Series hosted by the Italian University of Padua, coinciding with the 800th anniversary of the university.
In a lecture under the title “Freedom is Peace is Freedom”, Tawakkol Karman stated that today’s situation of freedoms today is worrying in general, noting that this situation is very miserable in the third world.
The Nobel laureate stressed the need for significant and responsible action involving governments, democratic parliaments, organizations defending human rights, and the most prominent activists known for their orientations in support of freedoms to prevent the escalation of repressive policies in the world.
Karman noted that freedom is essential to contribute to stability and security, and not a sign of chaos and devastation, as promoted by authoritarian fascisms.
