Tawakkol Karman speaks at Reykjavik Global Forum - Women Leaders
the Nobel Peace Prize-winning human rights activist Tawakkol Karman has called on governments around the world to adopt common policies that protect women from being exploited and from the consequences of political or military conflicts.
In her speech at the Reykjavík Global Forum – Women Leaders in the Republic of Iceland, Tawakkol Karman indicated that there are non-stop attempts to deprive women of the political and economic gains and rights, and to prevent them from the public space under various pretexts.
She also explained that a large part of women's suffering is related to the unfair view of women in some societies, stressing that the failure to make appropriate efforts to change such view and to truly reconsider the statements that detract from women will contribute to making them a permanent victim to all forms of violations.
