Tawakkol Karman Foundation opens Belqees School for the Deaf in Taiz
On Sunday, March 10, 2024, Tawakkol Karman Foundation opened Belqees School, dedicated to educating the hearing impaired, amidst the presence of Taiz Governor Nabil Shamsan. This school is within "Belqees Educational Complex," backed by the foundation with an investment of 700 million Yemeni riyals.
The school, with a construction outlay of 270 million riyals, caters to the educational needs of the hearing impaired, spanning from primary to secondary education. It comes fully equipped with facilities, scientific laboratories, computer labs, a library, and a comprehensive array of educational resources.
The realization of this project, situated in the heart of Al-Mudhaffar district in Taiz Governorate, is a direct response to pleas from the families of the hearing impaired community, acknowledging and fulfilling their rightful educational aspirations.
In the preceding year of 2023, Tawakkol Karman Foundation spearheaded several transformative ventures in the education sector. These included the construction of Al-Salam Primary-Secondary School in Al-Aqrud, Taiz, and Nashwan Al-Himyari Primary School in Marib, Saadia Center for Literacy and Adult Education in Shabwa, and the "Hun" initiative center for sign language education in Aden, along with the establishment of Belqees Primary School in Shabwa and the rehabilitation of Al Amal Center for training and rehabilitating individuals with special needs in Marib.
Education stands as a beacon of hope and progress, and Tawakkol Karman Foundation remains steadfast in its commitment to championing this noble cause, recognizing it as the cornerstone for societal development and enlightenment.
