Tawakkol Karman Foundation provided a worker with disabilities in Abyan governorate with an income-generating project that fulfills his aspirations to live in dignity and face the high prices and miserable living conditions in Yemen.
Yahya Ahmed Awad, from the Lawder district in Abyan, works as a street vendor, selling ice cream in a small container, to support himself and his family of five children and their mother, and his spinal curvature does not stand in the way of continuing his life.
Yahya says that if the work is good, he sells ice cream for 20 thousand riyals, and sometimes less than ten thousand riyals, and he has ambitions to own a project of his own in selling ice cream.
Yahya says that the problem with his project lies in the rapid melting of the ice cream, if he is unable to sell his goods before noon every day, while he begins his work actively every morning, cleaning the Lauder Hospital, until ten in the morning, then he goes to sell ice cream until noon or in the afternoon, before resuming his work again cleaning the hospital in the evening.
Dr. Fahmy Abdullah says that Yahya has been doing that for at least ten years, and he is diligent, loyal, and active.

Tawakkol Karman Foundation decided to target Yahya as part of its intervention projects aimed at sustainable development, enabling the beneficiaries to start their new lives with sustainable work, and opened a shop for selling ice cream, with refrigerators to preserve the ice cream, chairs, and tables for customers, and a solar energy system.
Yahya says: I have now owned an ice cream shop, which has been my ambition and dream for years. Thank you for all the services provided by Tawakkol Corporation, including the air conditioner, refrigerators, solar energy system, and all supplies.
This project comes within the projects implemented by Tawakkol Karman Foundation through “Haith Al-Insan” program, which is presented by Belqees channel during Ramadan.
