An annual program including 30 humanitarian projects in the fields of (education, health, development, and economic empowerment), implemented by the Tawakkol Karman Foundation. It aims to offer relief support and humanitarian support to the most vulnerable people because of the ongoing war in various provinces of Yemen. The projects are also documented in the form of television episodes published during the month of Ramadan on the Belqees satellite channel.
A Different Team
Hakim and seven of his friends in Aden share a passion for creativity despite the communication challenges they face because of hearing and speech disabilities. Haith Al-Insan, funded by Tawakkol Karman Foundation, provided the group with a fully equipped production studio, giving them a professional space to develop their talents and pursue their ambitions.
A School for 32 Towns
Al-Wafa School in Jabal Habashi, Taiz, had served generations of students since 1980, but years of deterioration eventually left some children studying beneath trees. Haith Al-Insan rehabilitated and furnished the school, repairing years of damage and restoring a safer, more suitable learning environment for its students.
A Lecture at the Beach
After the sea destroyed his father’s boat, teacher Ali Salem in Lahj built a makeshift boat from basic materials so he could continue earning a living. Even while coping with an injury, he continued teaching mathematics to local children. Haith Al-Insan provided him with a fully equipped fishing boat, allowing him to work more safely and support his family.
An Inspiring Advice
Ahmed Darwish runs a modest workshop in Wadi Hadramout where he not only practices his trade but also teaches young people practical vocational skills. Recognizing the importance of his work, Haith Al-Insan helped expand and improve the workshop, creating a better environment for Darwish and those learning from him.
The Decision that changed the life of 500 child
For years, Mirvat Al-Dubai carried her daughter each day to receive physiotherapy in Al-Shamayatayn, Taiz. In 2016, she decided to create a local treatment space instead, starting with a single room that eventually grew into a center serving around 500 children. Haith Al-Insan rehabilitated the center and supplied it with medical equipment to expand the care available to children and their families.
411 Students' Wish
More than 411 students continued attending Al-Khansa School in Taiz despite damaged classrooms, broken windows and the lasting scars of war. Haith Al-Insan rehabilitated and furnished the school, transforming the deteriorating building into a safer and more welcoming environment for students and teachers.
Ambitious Women of Mukalla
More than 450 women in Brom, Hadramout, make their living extracting salt under difficult conditions and with basic tools. Haith Al-Insan provided equipment and supplies to make their work safer and more efficient, helping the women improve production and increase the income they earn from their labor.
Hatem's Struggle Journey
Hatem Khudair was among the residents forced to flee Dhubab, Taiz, during the war, eventually reaching a displacement camp in Djibouti before returning to Yemen and settling in Aden. Determined to ensure that his children could continue their education, Hatem turned again to the fishing livelihood his community had long depended on. Haith Al-Insan provided him with fishing equipment and support to help him rebuild a sustainable source of income.
Refugees who don't want Cash
Families living in a displacement camp in rural Taiz wanted more than temporary financial assistance—they wanted a way to earn a living. Haith Al-Insan responded by establishing an aluminum and metal workshop for residents of the camp, giving them an opportunity to work, generate income and support their families.
Hadhramaut Women's Gift to All Yemen
Women in Hadramout have built livelihoods around traditional local products, from sea salt on the coast to handmade goods in the valley. This episode highlights the determination of women whose work has developed from small-scale production into products capable of reaching markets beyond their communities.
One Hospital for Seven Governorate
A psychiatric and neurological hospital in Taiz serves patients from seven governorates but had suffered from years of neglect and inadequate facilities. Haith Al-Insan rehabilitated and furnished the hospital and established a dedicated section for women, improving conditions for patients, families and medical staff.
A Path to Hala's House
Hala and other residents of a hillside neighborhood in Mukalla faced a dangerous, deteriorating path that made reaching their homes difficult and complicated the transport of daily necessities. Haith Al-Insan paved and improved the road, upgraded water and sewage pipes, and added safety measures along the slope, improving access for more than 15 households.
An Artist in Abyan
Ahmed Tamrour grew from a quiet child who spent much of his time at home into an artist whose work became familiar across Lawdar, Abyan. To help him develop his talent and reach a wider audience, Haith Al-Insan established an art studio where he can paint, teach and build a sustainable livelihood through his work.
A Discovery that Changed the Life of 2500 Human
Residents of Al-Salam neighborhood in Ataq, Shabwa, had struggled for years with a severe shortage of water. Haith Al-Insan drilled a well and constructed a water tank for the neighborhood, providing a more reliable source of water for more than 2,500 residents.
From a Barren Land to a Green Oasis
Illness left farmer Abdu Mohammed Hassan unable to care for his land in a remote village in Lahj, and his crops began to wither as water became increasingly scarce. Haith Al-Insan rehabilitated the farm using modern agricultural methods, restored its water supply and provided specialist agricultural support, benefiting eight families who depend on the land.
An Inspiring Doctor
Residents of Thabi in Hadramout once had to send medical samples to Tarim for testing, a difficult journey that delayed diagnoses and risked damaging samples along the way. Haith Al-Insan rehabilitated the local medical center into a rural hospital and supplied it with laboratory and medical equipment, expanding access to health services for more than 15,000 people.
Afrah the Makeup Artist
Afrah, a mother of five in Al-Ghaydah, Al-Mahra, worked to support her children after the loss of their father while facing difficult living conditions. Haith Al-Insan helped her establish what the program describes as the first women’s beauty salon in Al-Ghaydah, providing her with a stable source of income and greater financial independence.
The Ice Cream Man
For years, Yahya Awad sold ice cream to children in Lawdar, Abyan, while supporting a family of 12 despite his own physical disability. Haith Al-Insan provided him with a dedicated ice cream shop, giving him a more stable source of income and allowing him to continue serving his community under better working conditions.
First Journey to Socotra
On its first journey to Socotra, Haith Al-Insan met Salma Mohammed Saad, a determined woman who supports her family by selling natural Socotri products, spices and other goods from a small street stall. Despite limited resources and difficult living conditions, Salma continued working to provide for her children and keep them in education. Through Haith Al-Insan, Tawakkol Karman Foundation helped Salma turn her modest livelihood into a more sustainable business by providing her with a fully equipped shop for accessories, perfumes and cosmetics. The project gave her a safer and more stable place to work and a stronger source of income for her family.
A Big Family in a Small House
A family of five in Taiz lived together in a cramped single room after the father lost his job and was later injured during the war. Haith Al-Insan established a ready-made clothing shop for the family, providing a stable source of income and helping ease the financial pressure they faced.
The First School of the Deaf in Marib
After more than three decades without a dedicated school, deaf students in Marib gained access to a fully equipped educational facility built through Haith Al-Insan with funding from Tawakkol Karman Foundation. Belqees School is designed to serve more than 720 students, giving deaf children and young people a dedicated environment in which to learn and develop their skills.
Bahja.. The First Face Seen by Newborns
For years, thousands of residents in Nisab, Shabwa, depended on a tiny one-room clinic staffed by a young medical worker and his wife, Bahja, a trained midwife. Haith Al-Insan established a fully equipped clinic for the couple and their community, expanding access to health and maternity services for more than 3,000 residents.
Two Friends Guarding Socotra
Adnan and Ahmed Abu Issa have spent years voluntarily cleaning neighborhoods on Socotra, becoming familiar figures in communities that rely on their efforts to keep public spaces clean. Both men have speech disabilities, and Haith Al-Insan provided them with specialized carts to make their work easier, support their livelihoods and strengthen their contribution to protecting the island’s environment.
The First Museum In Marib
Despite Marib’s extraordinary archaeological heritage, students at Iqlim Saba University lacked a museum and laboratory where they could study artifacts and gain practical experience. Haith Al-Insan established a museum and laboratory for the university’s Archaeology and Tourism Department, creating a resource for students as well as researchers and residents interested in the region’s history.
The Product of Tarim's Women
Dozens of women in Tarim, Hadramout, gather to produce traditional palm-leaf handicrafts that are sold far beyond their community. Haith Al-Insan rehabilitated their production center, supplied materials, opened a retail outlet for their products and provided transportation to their workplace, benefiting more than 60 women and their families.
A School in the Middle of Shabwa Desert
Amid years of conflict in Shabwa, children in a remote community continued to need a safe place to learn. Haith Al-Insan built Al-Fara’a Al-Ulya School to provide more than 200 children with access to education, reflecting Tawakkol Karman Foundation’s commitment to rebuilding opportunities in communities affected by war.
22 May School
Children in a mountainous area of Al-Misrakh, Taiz, had outgrown the makeshift school local families had created for them. Haith Al-Insan began constructing a new school designed to serve more than 300 students from several surrounding villages, giving the community a permanent and more suitable place for education.
Belqees Library in Taiz
Many schools in Taiz and elsewhere in Yemen have little access to children’s books beyond standard textbooks. Haith Al-Insan established libraries stocked with hundreds of children’s books and supported the writing and printing of two children’s stories distributed to thousands of young readers, helping broaden access to reading and knowledge.
An Engineer's Dream
Mohammed Murshid, a refrigeration and air-conditioning technician in Al-Buraiqa, Aden, built his skills through years of work while supporting a family of seven. His goal was to own the equipment needed to work independently. Haith Al-Insan provided him with a fully equipped refrigeration and air-conditioning maintenance workshop, allowing him to expand his work and strengthen his family’s income.
The Final Story of the Fourth Season
Season 4 of Haith Al-Insan documented 29 development and humanitarian projects implemented across different parts of Yemen, spanning education, health, economic empowerment, infrastructure and support for vulnerable communities. The season highlighted individuals and communities working to overcome the effects of conflict while showing how targeted development projects can create lasting opportunities.
