Tawakkol Karman Foundation, in cooperation with the Yemeni Community Association in Türkiye, will organize a training program titled “Digital Responsibility: Freedom of Expression and Safeguarding Children on Social Media” on Saturday, October 3, 2026, in Istanbul. The program will bring together specialists in human rights and law, technology and media, and psychology and education.
The program comes amid the growing use of social media platforms and the challenges associated with privacy, digital safety, and the content children are exposed to, as well as the need to strengthen awareness of the rights and responsibilities associated with the use of digital spaces.
The intensive one-day training program will feature three specialized sessions. The first will focus on human rights and legal aspects, introducing participants to children’s rights and legal responsibility in the digital environment. The second will address technology and media, highlighting key practices for the safe use of social media platforms and digital devices.
The third session will focus on psychological and educational aspects, discussing the key effects and challenges children may face in the digital environment, ways to address them, and the role of families in promoting conscious and balanced use of social media platforms.
The sessions will be delivered by three specialists: Shawki Al-Qadhi, member of the Public Freedoms and Human Rights Committee in the Yemeni Parliament; Haitham Saad, expert in digital transformation and artificial intelligence applications; and Ahmed Gawas, researcher and academic specializing in psychology.
The program aims to strengthen participants’ awareness of digital responsibility and provide practical guidance and tools to help families and parents address challenges related to children’s use of social media platforms, contributing to a safer, more informed, and more responsible digital environment.
