Tawakkol Karman Foundation establishes bakery in prison in Hadramout
Tawakkol Karman Foundation has established a bakery inside the central prison in Hadramout Al-Wadi and Al-Sahra, for the production of bread and pastries.
Approximately 300 prisoners reside in the prison due to accumulated debts or criminal cases resulting in financial obligations that they are unable to pay, which led to their imprisonment.
Given the economic situation in Yemen, prisoners' lives are wasted without the ability to work and pay off their accumulated debts.
Tawakkol Karman Foundation’s Haith Al-Insan team has built the bakery, which includes an oven and a pastry-making room, and equipped it with all the necessary tools for pastry making. In addition, the prisoners were provided with the necessary tools to work in the bakery, and trainers were coordinated to provide the necessary training for those who wanted to learn bread making.
The project will benefit the prison itself and the prisoners by enabling them to work, spend on their families, and pay off their debts that led them to prison.
