Tawakkol Karman Foundation Supports Blind Farmer (Lahj, Yemen)
Tawakkol Karman Foundation team has established a modern irrigation system for a blind man in one of the villages of Taban district, located in Lahj Governorate. The village is home to approximately 200 people, including 25 who have been blind since birth.
Faris Malik, the owner of the farm, had stopped farming in 2021 due to the unavailability of diesel, which led to a halt in his source of income. Despite his disability, Faris has been working as a daily wage laborer to support his family, including four siblings who have been blind since birth.
The team of Tawakkol Karman Foundation learned about Faris and his struggles and decided to provide his farm with a modern irrigation system that operates on solar energy. This has allowed Faris to resume his profession as a farmer and provide a stable source of income for himself and his family.
Tawakkol Karman Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting various sectors, including education and development programs. The recent project to establish a modern irrigation system for Faris is part of the ongoing commitment to empowering communities and individuals across Yemen.
